The Great British Weather

Over the course of a single weekend we go from glorious sunshine to driving rain.

But it wouldn’t be Blighty¬†otherwise.

DSC00465-Edit

And unless planning a camping trip or a friendly BBQ it doesn’t really get in the way.

Days out are still fun – just make sure you pack Wellies alongside the suncream.

But, is it a Sony A99 killer for me?

DSC08598-Edit-2

Sometimes its the camera, often its the lens, but, the subject is everything.

Honestly, my No.1 model may have been replaced by Little Lady Layla ūüôā¬†

Dear Auntie Ru(f)ie

We hope you have a fabulous day tomorrow. Hope the sun shines and Dan spoils you! ¬†Thank you for inviting us to your birthday bash yesterday, we had a great day; boys, ladies and kids alike.¬†Here’s a few snaps from the day :

Much love on your birthday, from Deadville xxx

Play It Again Sam

And again, and again.

DSC08164

It goes around and around in my head, but, I think my Sony days may be reaching their conclusion.

DSC08148

Why – The EVF , the live exposure preview, swivelly screen thingy, dynamic range – all things to love, but…..the NOISE. Sigh.

DSC07543-Edit-Edit sony

The low light performance/high ISO/noise, however you term it, is crucifying me. Above ISO 800 it just looks dirty.

DSC08146-Edit-2

I probably don’t have the best optics, and that doesnt help, but Im a bit of pixel peeper for sharpness and focus and outside of good light its just not hitting the OCD standard.

DSC07598-Edit-Edit-Edit KIRS

So, I¬†will ponder a little while… list it….. ponder some more,¬†and¬†then change my mind…..again.

DSC08168-Edit

Same time and place next week then?

On One

I procrastinate weekly…….I’m switching to Nikon.

DSC07516

The A99 low light performance (high ISO) is, er, frustrating, in comparison to other FF offerings right now. But, bring on a little flash and the Sony fanboi in me is placated once again.

Introduce OnOne  Perfect Effects 8 and I am actually having fun.

Its free at the moment and can be accessed as a plug in via lightroom. Go get it.

It is mine and Mr. H’s wedding anniversary today, and as a treat we went¬†off for the weekend, courtesy of our dear friends mentioed above, to a spiffy Hotel, a¬†most generous, and greatly appreciated, gift. Mr¬†& Mrs H Senior considered it ‘a privilege’ to look after the little H’s whilst we were away (nutters, I¬†swear!)

P5020007-Edit

First stop was Bannatynes Health Club in Norwich (thanks Debs & Co) for a gym session, spa, swedish massage and a spot of lunch. Fab. Onto Lavenham.

P5030088

A picturesque little town in Suffolk, full of charm and character, boutique-y shops, restaurants, fabulous property (lots of wonky buildings) and, lest we forget, pubs.

The Swan Hotel is a gorgeous building, dating back to who knows when.

P5030058-Edit_HDR

Very upmarket, very quirky.

P5030053-Edit

Feature rich,as is Lavenham in general.  The patrons being of a fairly specific age group and Council Tax Band. The Hotel has lots of hallways, lounges, nooks and crannies for guests to enjoy a drink or light bite.

A beautiful restaurant and lovely courtyards, a great venue for weddings and weekenders alike.

We were lucky enough to have a fabulous suite, upgraded for our anniversary. Can’t knock that. (http://www.theswanatlavenham.co.uk)

We ventured out ¬†and right on the doorstep we found ‘The¬† Number Ten’ – a wine bar and kitchen (https://www.facebook.com/tenlavenham).

P5030144-2_HDR

A lovely, intimate bar with rustic, yet  innovative,  design.

Drinks were good and the food smelled great. The landlady was really friendly and stopped for a chat, even though she was preparing for a large party there in the evening.

P5030100-Edit

I think it was my favourite stop of the day.We stopped at a number of other places, The Angel, The Cock and The Greyhound before dinner at The Memsab.

P5030104-Edit-2

A fantastic day, an equally fab evening and back to the Swan for a nightcap.

Happy Anniversary Mr H
